I installed the roll boar and support in preparation for fitting the rear window
retaining strips.
I marked the side skin at the aft face of the roll bar and also on either side of the
roll bar support to ensure I didn't inadvertently position the retaining strips
such that they would interfere with either of these members.
Much positioning and drilling later, the passenger side retaining strip was clecoed
in place.
Because of how the roll bar is angled, this end of the retaining strip needs a
little trim.
That looks about right.
All trimmed up!
Dimpled all the holes in the skin and retaining strip.
Here's a better view to show the slot formed by the turtle deck skin and the retaining
strip. Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but this gap is intentionally about .010
wider than the window in order to permit some felt or another material to be installed.
Transfer drilled all the holes for the pilot side retaining strip.
After dimpling, I found that I had missed drilling one hole through the turtledeck skin.
...annoying because, now I need to transfer drill through the (now) dimpled hole
of the retaining strip, but the dimpling process enlarges the hole somewhat.
In order to position the drill bit correctly, I made a little guide block with a
countersink that would self-center on the back side of the dimple. Worked fine.
A view with both of the rear window retaining strips installed.
