Bought this mold release spray on Amazon. Hope it works better than the paste wax worked last
time.
Jo was over and cut out all these pieces for the layup.
He mixed up the epoxy (in two batches) and we both worked feverishly to saturate the
three layers of fiberglass with it.
Instead of trying to get a single piece to contour around the corners and in the center
notch, we cut those areas out and used separate pieces. This worked much better and it was
a lot easier to get the corners to smooth down.
After laying on the glass, we covered with peel ply and felt, then vacuum bagged it.
The bag didn't seal well, nor did the second bag. I finally realized these trash bags
are pretty leaky along the (poorly) sealed sides, so I taped the sides of a third bag and
triple bagged it, then the vacuum pump didn't run as much.
I also started painting these parts...the battery box and the center arm rest. I put them
in the oven at 170 degrees F to keep dust from falling into the wet paint and to harden up
the paint more quickly.
